About Lancaster Insurance
Lancaster Insurance Services has been successfully growing since it first started as the ‘Insurance Department’ at the MG Owners Club back in 1984. Based in Swavesey, Cambridgeshire, the insurance services offered were hugely popular to MG enthusiasts and within the year larger premises were needed to service the increasing demand and the insurance department relocated to Station Road, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire.
Business continued to grow and with satisfied customers constantly rising it was decided in 1989 to take a mutual stand in the classic car insurance market, allowing the company to insure a wider variety of classic cars, this resulted in the MG Insurance Department becoming Lancaster Insurance Services.
Lancaster Insurance Services’ client base was continually increasing, and this hosted a great opportunity to promote other insurance services. By 1996, Lancaster Insurance was offering household, general car and travel insurance services. Due to the continued growth we moved to our purpose built offices in Meadow Lane, St. Ives to accommodate our outstanding success and to provide exceptional facilities to our staff.
By the beginning of 2000 it was apparent that one of the biggest growth areas for insurance would be business conducted via the internet. In response, Lancaster Insurance started development on a “Quick Quote” system which would allow classic car owners to generate a quote in seconds and be fully covered in less than five minutes. 2002 saw the official launch of the “Quick Quote” facility and since then service has consistently grown with more and more schemes being added. The service has now been adopted by hundreds of leading UK brokers.
Up until June 2004 Lancaster Insurance sold insurance solely to the general public, it was at this time that we launched our Broker Scheme service, offering Classic Car Insurance schemes to many of the UK’s largest insurance brokers, the scheme was very well received and following on from the success of the Broker Scheme led Lancaster Insurance to introduce further classic car insurance services via Insurance Software Houses in August 2005. This enables insurance brokers to gain access to our classic car insurance schemes via their computer systems where we can be selected from their panel of insurers. To date our Classic Car Insurance schemes are now available to you via in excess of 965 insurance brokers throughout the UK.
Since June 2007 we have been developing a Household Insurance product which can be accessed through our contact centre (01480 484809) or via Confused.com, the product is due to be launched October 2007 and testimonials for the product will be posted on our website every month.
