1. What information does Lancaster Insurance gather/track and how is it used?
Use of data
Each time a visitor comes to a Lancaster Insurance Services web site and submits some data for Insurance purposes, that data is transferred directly onto the main Lancaster Insurance database. This data is used to assess insurance premiums only and may be transmitted in its entirety to the relevant underwriting Insurer(s).

Use of email addresses collected from Lancaster Insurance sites.
After taking up Insurance with Lancaster Insurance and having submitted your email address, we may use this address as a means for transmitting important information and/or policy renewal details. We will not use it for promotional means.

2. With whom does Lancaster Insurance share the information it gathers/tracks?
Insurance Information
Any information pertinent to an Insurance cover will be transmitted to the relevant insurer. If the policyholder has decided to pay by Direct Debit, then some details (name, address, bank details etc) will be transmitted to the relevant credit company. If the policyholder has taken out legal benefits cover, then details such as name, address and policy number may be transmitted to the relevant legal benefits insurer.

All insurers supply details of motor insurance policies to a database to which the police and other insurers have access. This helps detect people who break the law by not taking out insurance and insurers to pursue claims following accidents.

Statistical Information
Lancaster Insurance collates statistics on various aspects of our policyholder profile. This may include age groupings, area and sex groupings etc. These statistics may be shown to internal management, or on occasion to external agencies. We will not disclose the information of any individual policyholder to any other outside organization.

3. What is Lancaster Insurance data-removal policy?

Removing Details of Insurance Cover
We are bound by law to keep full details of an Insurance cover whilst there is cover in place (i.e. for the duration of the policy). If there is a claim involved on the policy, this period extends up to six years. If the age of the details held by us falls outside of these criteria, then we shall, on receipt of written instructions and a £20 administration fee, remove all references to your information.
