Lancaster Insurance, headline sponsor of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show has announced that it will be having a mini adventure at this year’s show, with the addition of a 1990 ‘H’ reg Mini called ‘Henry’ and two tiny Peels on its stand. The little cars will join the line up on the ‘Hollywood Premiere’ themed stand which will also host the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, K.I.T.T. from Knightrider and Back to the Future’s DeLorean.
The Peel 50, a mere 54 inches long and 41 inches wide, has held the Guinness World Record for the World’s Smallest Production Car for almost 50 years. It will be joined by its ‘big brother’, the Peel Trident. The tiny cars were originally manufactured in 1962 on the Isle of Man by Cyril Cannell, owner of Peel Engineering Company until it ceased trading in 1970. Peel Engineering was then acquired in 2011 by car enthusiasts Gary Hillman and Faizal Khan, who have re-invigorated the brand and, with the help of Dragon Den’s James Caan, breathed renewed fire into a British manufacturing legend.
Richard Morley, Operations Director for Lancaster Insurance, said: “We’re so excited to announce these additions to our stand this year. The Peel 50 and Peel Trident have to be seen to be believed and ‘Henry’ is sure to bring star quality as he has already had a ‘brush with fame’ after being featured in The Only Way is Essex and Cars that Rock. They are super little classics, sure to bring an even bigger sense of fun to the stand. We’ll even be encouraging people to have a ‘mini selfie’!”
The 2014 Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show will be held from 14th to 16th November 2014 at the NEC, Birmingham.
