To start the engines off in style this summer, we’re thrilled to announce we’ve partnered with Love My Classic to offer one reader the chance to win a year’s classic car insurance* on us! The competition closes on midnight 12th July and for more info, and to enter, click here.
With the promise of good weather drawing closer, it’s time to hit the open road! To celebrate, we’ve put together five suggested road trips to enjoy this summer, right here in the UK.
Famous for hundreds of honey-colour limestone villages in a beautiful rural setting, the Cotswolds is a firm favourite for many! You can visit one of the bustling farmer’s markets and sample some local delicacy, soak in the beauty from Stow on the Wold and admire the views from its hill top, or take a break and watch the world go by at one of the many cafes. In the summer, it’s hard to beat!
Why not park on the seafront and take in the sea air! Wander around the lanes, enjoy some fish and chips on the shingle beach, visit the iconic pier and take a spin on the wheel and then a drive home as the sun sets – sounds idyllic!
3. Lake District
With more than 3,100 kilometres of rights of way, the Lake District has much to offer. Including country shows throughout the summer to enjoy with the family such as the Cumbria Classic Weekend on 22nd -23rd August. Or why not take your classic and hit the open road driving from Kendal to Keswick, a 30 mile stretch giving unparalleled views of Lakeland Fells - it all sounds heavenly!
4. Local car shows
In the summer there is practically one dotted around the UK every weekend, so if you prefer to stay closer to home, why not take your pride and joy to a local car show! Meet like-minded people, see other classics and enjoy a day in the sun (fingers crossed!)
5. New Forest
With a wealth of places to explore, visiting the New Forest is a must. You can enjoy a scenic drive through the woodland, visit the wildlife park or even meet the locals and sample one of the legendary pubs. There’s also the famous National Motor Museum in Beaulieu which has a superb array of cars and is fascinating if you’re an enthusiast or not, there really is something for everyone!
Of course, there are many other beautiful spots in the UK to enjoy a road trip with your beloved. We’d love to hear your favourite, so why not leave us a comment below.
