Lancaster Insurance embarks on a ‘Mini’ adventure in aid of Prostate Cancer UK

Lancaster Insurance, headline sponsor of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show has announced that it’ll be launching a new charity initiative at this year’s show in November. Alongside the ‘Miss World’ contest, a spotlight will also be shone on their very own restoration project, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

From November, a very special Mini, expertly sourced by Classic Mini Finder, will go on a very special journey. Being a rare 1969 Morris Mini Super Deluxe with only 33,000 miles from new and totally original, the car will go through a complete and sympathetic top to bottom bare metal restoration retaining as much, if not all, of the original car as possible. The fully restored car, which has only ever been owned by one family, will then be auctioned at next year’s Classic Motor Show 2016, through Silverstone Auctions, with all proceeds donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

Richard Morley, Operations Director at Lancaster Insurance comments: “We’re really excited to be taking on our first restoration project and to be launching it at this year’s show. The theme ‘She’s a beauty’ compliments our initiative fantastically, as even though she’s a beauty currently, when she’s fully restored, she’ll be a stunner! The car also has a fantastic backstory, being owned by mother and then daughter in the same family. We’ve got big plans ahead this year - so keep your eyes peeled!”

Lancaster will be further cementing its long-standing partnership with MG Owner’s Club, as they will be carrying out the restoration work at its Cambridge workshop. Lancaster is also excited to announce that Classics Monthly, a hands on' magazine for classic enthusiasts everywhere, will be featuring the restoration exclusively in the publication during the course of 2016.

Iain Wakefield, Managing Editor at Classics Monthly comments: “When Lancaster approached us to be its exclusive media partner for this activity, we were thrilled. Not only is it fantastic that all the proceeds will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK, it will be an exciting journey to take our readers on and we’re thrilled to be embarking on it with Lancaster.”

Hailing the auction, James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “This restoration project is incredibly exciting and will catch the imagination of men everywhere. We can’t wait to see the Mini in its full glory. Huge thanks to Lancaster Insurance and MG Owner’s Club for collaborating in such an original way to clock up urgently needed funds to beat prostate cancer.”

Lancaster Insurance is also calling on fans to help name the mini on a dedicated site www.findminiahome.com which is now live. The winning name will then be announced on Monday 2nd November.
