Who is Lancaster Insurance?
We were founded in 1984 as the insurance arm of the MG Owners Club, and we’ve been providing insurance policies to the UK Classic Car icommunity ever since. We’re a team of enthusiasts, who have the same passion for Classic Cars as our customers, which is why we’re the headline sponsor of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC Birmingham, which takes place every year in November.
Here’s some more information on the benefits available to you as a Lancaster customer:
Agreed Valuation
Agreed Valuations provide a guaranteed pay-out for your vehicle based on its current condition and current replacement value, meaning if the worst were to happen and your vehicle is stolen or written off you can replace the vehicle with another vehicle in a similar condition and value rather than taking the chance of being paid ‘market value’. Market value on a classic or specialist vehicle can be considerably less than your vehicle may be worth as ‘market value’ doesn’t consider restoration costs, modifications, rarity or provenance and ‘market value’ isn’t specific to your vehicle where an agreed valuation policy is. You will need to submit photos and a small questionnaire on the condition of the vehicle, then a certificate confirming the value will be issued to you.
Discounts for Car Club Members
If you are a member of an owner’s club, we can provide extra discounts against your insurance. Our insurers believe owners clubs members give their vehicle more love, care, and attention so they may reward you with extra discounts on this basis.
Limited Mileage Discounts
Often a Classic Car will be on the road less than your everyday vehicle, only being used at the weekend, for holidays or when the sun is shining. Our selected panel of insurers will offer discounts on insurance for motorists who use their car less.
Modified Classic Insurance
We understand Classic Car owners and enthusiasts either want to, or need to, modify their vehicle for numerous reasons and our insurers accept most modifications you can think of. From something as simple as fitting more modern alloy wheels to replacing the engine with a larger ‘cc’ engine to get that extra horsepower for the longer journeys, we can arrange cover for most modifications.
Choice of Repairer Option
Lancaster Insurance Services are partnered with several insurers who will allow you to choose your own repairer in the event of accident. This means that rather than using the insurers approved repairer, you can use your preferred garage to look after your classic, providing you with peace of mind when it comes to making sure your classic is restored by someone you trust (subject to terms & conditions set by the insurer).
Laid Up Cover
If you are working on your latest Classic Car restoration project and are concerned about theft or accidental damage cover for your vehicle whilst the work is carried out, you’ll be pleased to know you can protect your vehicle whilst it’s off the road in a garage or parked on your driveway. Often premiums are cheaper than ‘on road’ cover as there is no third-party liability needed whilst the vehicle is off road (vehicle make/model and parking dependant, get in touch to ask more about this).
