Bright Young Sparks 2026: Celebrating the next generation of Classic Car Talent

Lancaster Insurance and Practical Classics are looking for our next enthusiasts aged 16–25 who are shaping the future of classic motoring.

Yvonne Gosney from Lancaster Insurance says: “Our classic cars tell stories that deserve to be passed on. By protecting this heritage and championing young enthusiasts through Bright Young Sparks, we’re ensuring the passion, skills and spirit of the classic car community continue to flourish for generations ahead.”

 

The content of the Bright Young Sparks nomination will be judged on the following:

  • Be aged 16–25

  • Show a demonstrated interest in classic car maintenance or restoration - this can be through study, work experience, volunteering, or personal projects

  • Have practical involvement with classic cars - such as hands‑on work, learning new skills, or participating in restoration activities

  • Engage with the classic car community - for example through clubs, events, online forums, or social media

  • Show initiative in sharing or developing knowledge - which could include creating content, attending workshops, or pursuing training

  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for classic cars -expressed in any form that feels authentic to them

Key Dates

  • June-December: 3 finalists selected

  • 19–21 March 2027: Finalists attend the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show

  • 19 March 2027: Overall winner announced

Finalists Prizes

  1. £500 in the form of an Amazon or Halfords voucher.

  2. 2x one day tickets for Friday to the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show on 19th March 2027

  3. An exclusive feature in Practical Classics Magazine and in the Lancaster Insurance Services newsletter, website and social channels

Overall Winner’s Grand Prize: Classic Car Industry Taster Week

The overall winner will be announced at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show on Friday 19th March 2027, you must be available to join our stand with your classic vehicle.

The 'Classic Car Industry Taster’ week prize includes:

  1. An educational course with Heritage Skills

  2. 1 day with classic motor publication, Practical Classics

  3. 1x Sealey Premier Hammer-Thru Screwdriver Set with Tool Tray 6pc

The Competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged between 16 and 25. If you are under 18, you must ask someone over 18 to complete the entry form. This competition will close at 4:00pm(GMT) on 31st December 2026. The winner will be announced at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show on Friday 19th March 2027 and you must be available to join our stand with your classic vehicle.
