You can usually see Alex Cursley, one of our sponsored drivers, in the Hyundai Coupe UK but last weekend he was at MotoFest Coventry for the first time! Check out the video below to see how he got on.
"Coventry Motofest is a unique event for us. The results do not count towards our series total, but how could I turn down the chance to compete in a sprint around Coventry ring road in an exclusive class of Hyundai Coupe Cup cars!
The aim is to post the fastest time in class on each day, with two practice runs in the morning and two official runs in the afternoon. We started the weekend off well with our Lancaster Insurance coupe posting the fastest time in the first practice!
However, when it came to the second run (see video) whilst attempting to shave more time off, I unfortunately clipped a chicane barrier.
There was obvious damage to the front wheel and tyre, so these were changed, but it soon became apparent that there maybe some geometry changes that affected the car handling.
By the end of hot and sunny Saturday we were a respectable 2nd in class.
On the Sunday we saw the weather change with rain on and off throughout the day.
Unfortunately this only amplified the kinks I installed into the car the day before.
I managed to stay within the top three right up until the last run by Jack Smith who pushed me down to 4th.
Congratulations to Mark Dicken who won both days and Jack and Nick Moore on being up there with the best.
I’d like to thank Lancaster Insurance for sending me off to fly the flag at Coventry Motofest, what a fantastic event.
The next outing will be rounds 5 & 6 on 29th and 30th June at Thruxton with a straight and shiny car supporting the British truck racing."
