Classic car insurance specialist Lancaster Insurance has announced their latest Bright Young Spark, 21-year-old Arthur Atkinson.
The Bright Young Spark initiative, created by Practical Classics and sponsored by Lancaster Insurance, aims to engage the next generation, shining a spotlight on young people who want to be a part of the classic car world. Six finalists were shortlisted with Arthur receiving his award at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show last month.
Arthur has always had a keen interest in classics from a young age, and is now the founder of Concours Classics Limited, a bodywork restoration company based in Suffolk. “My grandmother first fuelled my passion for classic cars,” explained Arthur. “She would gift me model Hot Wheels from a young age, and I’d pretend to work on them and do stunts.
“I’ve always been very motivated and setup my first workshop off my own back. With the workload and client relationships building, I upscaled and developed ‘Concours Classics Limited’ which has grown and gone from strength to strength.”
And Arthur has big plans for himself, and the company, for the future. He aims to delve further into the realms of vintage classic and custom show cars, expand on the company’s presence online, and inspire the younger generation to get into classics.
His advice to the younger generation? “Follow your initiative and seize every opportunity. There’s nothing holding you back - self-belief, determination and motivation is everything. Chase your passion and you’ll gain traction. It’s not one day, it’s day one. Make that move.”
Commenting, a spokesperson from Lancaster Insurance says: “Classic cars are a vital part of our collective history and we’re passionate about safeguarding their future so generations can enjoy them for years to come. That’s why the Bright Young Sparks initiative is important, to celebrate people like Arthur who have a true passion for our community and will help keep it alive.
“We always love to hear about people’s own personal journeys when it comes to classic cars and it’s fantastic to see the enthusiasm Arthur has for the industry and for restoration. We wish him every success for the future.”
