Renault Clio Williams
Marketed with the F1 Williams team link, this hot hatch was actually built as a homologation special for the Renault Sport rallying team. With a reinforced subframe and uprated dampers, springs and more, 1990s boy racers (who could afford the insurance) were all over the Renault Clio Williams like a rash. It took the normal 16v and added 200cc - definitely a modern classic if you can get your hands on one now.

In May 2018 the Department for Transport announced that cars that were built more than 40 years ago exempt from MOT testing, with the option for owners to voluntarily have their car tested if they feel it needs checking.
