The event, which took place on 12th – 14th November, was attended by around 63,000 enthusiasts over the three days, marking a triumphant return after last year’s postponement due to Covid.
There were so many highlights from the show, with everyone so pleased to be back experiencing the industry in the flesh – and with around 3,000 cars on show across seven halls and 270 car clubs showcasing, there was certainly plenty to see.
For our theme this year, we paid homage to the ‘Great British Road Trip’, showcasing eight fantastic cars, each with a unique story to tell. We ran a competition on our stand to win a Great British Road Trip weekend away, in association with Classic Lodges Hotels, and teamed up with Art by Bex, who launched ‘Retro Mini Hire’, where you can hire a restored classic Mini Cooper to take on your own Great British Road Trip.
Back by popular demand was our Win a Car competition – this year giving attendees the chance to win a 1984 Ford Escort XR3i! Winners of both our competitions will be announced soon. We also gave attendees the chance to buy a pack of limited edition Lancaster Insurance Classic Car Top Trumps – fear not, if you missed out you can purchase your pack online here.
On Saturday, we headed over to Silverstone Auctions at the show for the sale of our beautiful blue VW Camper ‘Bluebell’, which was restored for us by Danny Hopkins and his team at Practical Classics. The Camper sold for a fantastic £14,000 – and all proceeds will be going to Prostate Cancer UK.
Another main event at the show was the Lancaster Pride of Ownership stand, showcasing the best classic cars in competition and celebrating the rarest and most cherished vehicles. This year Jake Clappison took the top spot, following in his dad Paul’s footsteps to win the public vote with his 1979 Triumph Spitfire. Well done Jake!
And last but not least, we have to give a huge shout out to Sporting Bears, who arrived with a fantastic array of cars given up for the weekend by their generous members, offering rides in their classics in return for a donation to charity. Over the course of the weekend they raised a truly fantastic £28,913 for charity! Congratulations to their team.
Andrew Evanson, Senior Operations Manager at Lancaster Insurance, said: “It was amazing to see the classic car community reunite over the past three days. The show is always a calendar highlight but was something special this year. Thank you to all involved and we can’t wait to do it again next year.”
