The Lancaster Workshop made a triumphant return to the NEC!

29 March 2022

After three years long years, we returned to the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show on 18 - 20th March for a truly special weekend at the NEC in Birmingham, attended by over 25,000 enthusiasts. From live working and insights into the restoration journey, to on stage talks and the biggest Classic Car Auctions ever, we were treated to it all.

If you couldn’t make the show, you can check out our video of the event here:

This year we had three classic vehicles on our stand, two of which were the first purchases in our ‘The Great Classic Trade-up Challenge, our lovely little Fiat 127 and Classics World’s retro Honda Acty RomaHome camper.

In a dramatic turn of events, we sold the Honda Acty RomaHome to Rob from Lincolnshire at the show! Which means the pressure is now on for us to find a new home for our Fiat. If you’re interested in buying our lovely little classic, get in touch.

We were also offering people the chance to enter a competition to WIN one of the final cars at the end of the Challenge in November. If you’d like to enter, you still can online here and the winner will be announced following the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show in November. T&Cs apply.

Here’s Senior Operations Manager Andrew Evanson and Phil Weedon from Classics World with more information about the initiative:

The third car we displayed was a 1993 Jaguar Police Special, courtesy of Tracker UK, which drew a lot of attention throughout the day, especially when the lights went on! We were also running a competition to giveaway a Nano Tracker to three lucky winners.

Here’s a picture of two admirers of this extra special classic:

We were pleased to support Practical Classics this year with the National Car Club awards, honouring the many fantastic things our car clubs contribute to the classic car community. Congratulations to all of the worthy winners.

On Sunday we congratulated our Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership winners, who each won a year’s free insurance with us. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the fantastic finalists, who really went to great lengths to put on a fantastic display this year.

The winners were…

  • Third place went to Shaun Hunter’s 1973 Ford Escort Mk1
  • Second place was awarded to Brian Kent’s 1965 Humber
  • And the top spot went to Laura Godtschalk and her 1992 Volkswagen Golf Cabrio

And last but not least, the amazing Sporting Bears were back offering dream rides in a selection of beautiful classics and this year they have raised an incredible £20,018.69 for children charities. A huge well done to them!
